With this publication, BIII presents together with BAI a concrete proposal for how impact investing can be recognised as a distinct investment strategy within the EU Sustainable Finance framework. The paper advocates for a non-binding, principles-based guidance that supports the integration of impact investing into existing EU regulation.
The paper outlines key principles and qualifying criteria to establish a common understanding of impact investing in Europe. It provides a reference framework based on existing market standards to enable first steps into impact investing and foster market development.
In addition to guiding investors and asset managers, the paper supports policymakers in aligning EU efforts with global developments – thereby strengthening the EU’s leadership in sustainable finance.
The publication also marks the launch of a broader dialogue: BIII is actively seeking supporters and endorsers to jointly advocate for greater recognition of impact in finance.
