Building on the BAI/BIII position paper from November 2024 titled “Impact Investing in Alternative Investments – Why Private Market Investments Are Particularly Suited for Impact-Generating Investments”, BAI and BIII now present a new paper specifically dedicated to the asset class infrastructure. The publication highlights the specific characteristics and challenges of this asset class – ranging from regulatory treatment to impact management and measurement (IMM).

Beyond outlining general challenges, the paper discusses intentionality, asset impact & investor impact, as well as impact management & measurement – each illustrated through concrete case studies.

Through these examples covering different “types” of infrastructure, the authors aim to make the topic more accessible to a broader audience while also offering a practical conversation guide to support dialogue between asset managers and their investors.
